Bus strike continues despite new offer

Transport unions participating in a four-week long bus strike say workers have agreed to a nine-percent wage increase. However, the unions are also requesting the employers for back pay from 1st April.

Due to this stalemate, the national bus strike will continue. The bus companies and the workers’ unions met in Johannesburg on Thursday in a desperate attempt to find an end to the four-week long strike.

Before the meeting, the employers were offering 8.75% salary increase for the first year, and 8.25% for the following year. The unions were demanding 9% for this year and 8% for next year. Click below for more on the story:
