Reading Time: < 1 minute

An eight-year-old patient has been killed in yet another ambulance attacked in Cape Town.

The ambulance was en route to the Red Cross Children’s Hospital early on Wednesday morning when it was forced to stop on the N2 near Borcherds Quarry due to bricks on the road.

Western Cape Emergency Medical Services spokesperson Robert Daniels says while stationary, the crew was attacked.

The crew was held at gun point and robbed.

At the back of the ambulance was a critically injured eight-year-old patient with severe head injuries sustained during a motor vehicle accident.

Due to the delay caused by the attack on EMS personnel, the boy did not make it.
