Boxing South Africa top brass expressed disappointment after Zolani “Last Born” Tete pulled out of the bantamweight World Boxing Super Series last week.

Tete was to unify his WBO belt with WBA Super holder Nonito “Filipino Flash” Donaire.

The fight was supposed to have taken place this past Sunday in the USA, but it is set to be rescheduled to June 15. Boxing South Africa Chief Executive Officer Tsholofelo Lejaka was devastated.

The bout was to be the official semi-final of the WBSS Series that is organised by German promoter Kalle Sauerland.

Tete was trained by American trainer Floyd Mayweather Snr., the 66-year-old father of the most successful boxer Floyd.

BSA board member Peter Ngatane says the whole country was affected. – Report by Vincent Sitsula
