Business Leadership South Africa (BLSA) announced that it had lifted the suspension of Eskom, effectively reinstating the electricity utility’s full membership in the organisation.

Eskom was suspended in September 2017 in the wake of serious allegations of state capture and corruption.

Head of Strategy at Business Leadership South Africa,  Sizwe Mbele says the utility’s membership has been restored due to the positive progress which includes actions taken by the new board.

”We are encouraged by the progress that we see with Eskom. We see the strengthening of the board and the governance and we await the appointment of key executives. There has also been a lot of progress with regards to appointment we welcome the permanent appointment of the group CEO of Eskom, Phakamani Hadebe. Now they must focus on how they look at the business model and how to strengthen the balance sheet and operational methods.”
