Bail postponed for Boksburg heist suspects

Five suspects, believed to be involved in a cash-in-transit heist in Boksburg two weeks ago, have appeared in court amid a heavy police presence.

Their case has been postponed for a bail application. Security was tight in and around court.

Only family members were allowed access with heavily armed police keeping a close watch.

The suspects were separated from the public gallery by a security barrier.

Two of them indicated they would apply for bail, while the rest are still weighing their options.

Paul Sibanda, Thato Gaopapwe, Sibusiso Khumalo, Collin Hadebe, Thabo Molefe were arrested at the George Goch hostel on the 17th of May, hours after the twin attack in Boksburg.

An undisclosed amount of cash was stolen. The unfolding events were captured by nearby office workers.

The suspects face 23 charges, including robbery with aggravating circumstances, malicious damage to property and detonating explosives.

The search for five others involved in the brazen robbery continues.

Police are ensuring the suspects nailed, don’t escape the long arm of the law.

The bail hearing has been scheduled for the 13th of June.
