South Africa have moved up to 15th in Africa and 76th in the world, in the latest Fifa rankings released on Thursday.
Bafana Bafana rose one spot in the world ratings, to displace Zambia who dropped one place to 77th.
Later in March, Bafana will be involved in a four-nations tournament in Zambia where the SA side will have the chance to further improve their world ranking.
Tunisia continue to hold the top position in Africa at number 23 in the world, with Senegal four places behind in 27th.
Congo DR is the fourth-ranked side on the continent at 39th in the world and Morocco round at the African top-five at number 42 in the world rankings.
