The Commissioner for Political Affairs of the African Union Commission, Amb. Minata Samate Cessouma has met with Sweden Foreign Affairs Minister Margot Wallström, on the sideline of the 2018 Stockholm Forum on Gender Equality.
The Commissioner expressed gratitude to Wallström for organising this timely meeting and recognised the powerful role of the Swedish feminist movement at the helm of the women struggle for gender equality and women empowerment.
Their discussions revolved around the role of new culture and practice of politics that can make women and girls influence more effective and inclusive.
The two further elaborated on the role and the place of women in politics and governance, in mediation and peace processes, highlighting the necessity to include women at all level of the sphere.
