Application to have ANCYL Ehlanzeni General Council stopped struck of the roll

The High Court sitting in Mbombela, Mpumalanga, has struck off the roll an urgent application by disgruntled African National Congress Youth League (ANCYL) members to have the League’s Ehlanzeni General Council stopped. The General Council has resumed at Nutting House west of Mbombela, where political issues and economic emancipation are set to be on top of the agenda.

League members at Ehlanzeni claim that the Council is unconstitutional.

Judge Francis Malesela Legodi struck off the roll the application on the basis that it was not urgent. He also stated it was unnecessary for members of the same organisation to fight amongst themselves.

He indicated that this matter would have been resolved within the ranks of the party.

The applicants argued that they exhausted all avenues within the party and nothing has been done. The Ehlanzeni ANC Youth League members raised concerns that the delegates who are supposed to be part of the Regional General Council (RGC) were not informed, but certain people have already been selected to attend the RGC.

The applicants lost the application with costs. The RGC continues this weekend.
