ANCYL will protect parliament says Maine

Reading Time: 2 minutes

The African National Congress Youth League (ANCYL) says it is ready to defend the organisation and its president, Jacob Zuma.

Addressing thousands of members at the “Kgalemela lenyatso” rally in Soshanguve, north of Pretoria, Youth League president, Collen Maine told the crowd they must protect the organisation and be careful not be distracted, as the local government elections approach.

Maine, had a tough time delivering his speech as the noise from the crowd kept getting louder. He had a strong message for opposition parties, particularly the Economic Freedom Fighters.

“If you fight with Zuma you are fighting with the youth league, and South Africans who have voted for him, and the ANC with more than 60 % majority. The country will be defended. We cannot allow Julius Malema and his monkeys to run our country amok and turn this country into a banana republic.”

Maine also warned the EFF not to disrupt the State of the Nation address set to take place on Thursday. Last week Malema said the EFF would take action if President Zuma doesn’t begin by explaining his reason for firing Nhlanhla Nene as Finance Minister.

“Those who seek to disrupt the State of the Nation must prepare themselves for a civil war. We want to assure the country that the youth league will attend the State of the Nation of address to defend the nation and the revolution. We wish to inform the Speaker of the parliament not to organise security on that day. The youth league will physically remove wood workers from parliament,” says Maine.

On the issue of the EFF banning journalists working for the Gupta owned TNA Media, Maine said Malema should stop misleading the country on the Guptas.

“We are not told that in the top ten richest South Africans we do not have a family called the Guptas, not even in the top 50. How can we be told South Africa is being colonised by the family. We must be careful of being defocused. The same people who marched to ABSA and Barclays a week later, they were wined and dined in the United Kingdom.”
