The Gauteng ANC Women’s League says it supports the party’s land reform programme as outlined by  ANC President Cyril Ramaphosa.

The league’s NEC member and the convernor of the league’s Gauteng conference that was held in Pretoria at the weekend, Thoko Xasa, says women in the ANC want land to be restored to its rightful owners.

She says at the end of the process, women especially those in rural areas, should also be beneficiaries of land.

She says the conference is tasked with looking at the issue of land because land for women is not just about ownership.

She says: “When it comes to rural women, they cannot even own the land they till and have food for their children. When the husband dies another male in the family takes over. We want to make sure that there is land restitution.”
