ANC will not support SAA closure: Magashule

Reading Time: < 1 minute

ANC Secretary-General Ace Magashule has reiterated that the party will not support the closure of South African Airways (SAA).

This follows remarks by Finance Minister Tito Mboweni that the airline should be closed because it is loss making and unlikely to be fixed.

Magashule was briefing the media in Parliament following a special caucus meeting of the party that was addressed by ANC President Cyril Ramaphosa.

He says the ANC’s stance is that government is not closing down SAA, it’s work in progress.

He says: “The ministers will be dealing with this matter as well as cabinet. There’s work in progress but I can confirm that there is no any intention to close down SAA.”
