African National Congress Secretary-General Ace Magashule has reiterated that the party will not support the closure of South African Airways.

This follows remarks by Finance Minister Tito Mboweni that the airline should be closed because it is loss making and unlikely to be fixed.

Magashule briefed the media in parliament on Tuesday, following a special caucus meeting of the party that was addressed by ANC president Cyril Ramaphosa.

“Our stance both ANC and government is that we’re not closing down SAA. There’s work in progress. The ministers will be dealing with this matter as well as cabinet.  There’s work in progress, but I can confirm that there is no any intention to close down SAA.”
