ANC Veterans wish to see a better party

Reading Time: 1 minute

With just a one day to go before the ANC elective conference kicks off, all those who played a prominent role in the strengthening of the organisation are united in their wish to see a better party post conference.

ANC veterans stress that the upcoming 54th elective conference must be a reminder that attending members represent the people of the nation as well as those who had previously sacrificed their lives for the freedom of the country, suggests the former deputy president Kgalema Motlanthe.

“Our road is still very far, and the youth must never get tired and our people must never get tired. We must carry on with all the difficulties that we find along the way,” says veteran Gertrude Shope.

The ANC deputy secretary general, Jessie Duarte echo’s this sentiment in saying that party officials must maintain high morale and that the upcoming conference and the ANC  is not about individuals in the party but an organization representative of all the people in South Africa.

Duarte shares her concern that tribalism within the country and the ANC is fast turning into a way to marginalize other races and cultures in the country.
