ANC should apologise for acts of corruption: Mboweni

Finance Minister Tito Mboweni says the ANC must work hard to assure citizens that things will change after next month’s elections.

He says the party should apologise to South Africans for acts of corruption allegedly committed by those within its ranks as well as contractors who did not deliver on services they were paid for.

Mboweni addressed residents and business people in Nirvana and Westernberg in Polokwane while campaigning  ahead of the May 8 general elections.

He says: “Let’s grow South Africa together fully accepting that in the recent past, we have made lots of mistakes.”

He says the ANC must therefore pledge to the people that never again will this depth of corruption ever come to this country.

“Never and never again should we allow a situation where people have been given a tender to connect water to people in Giyani and other areas and then people never receive the water. Never and never again shall we allow any sitting president to be captured by any family,” says Mboweni.
