ANC North West holds Provincial General Council

Reading Time: < 1 minute

The African National Congress (ANC) in the North West is holding its Provincial General Council (PGC) in Hammanskraal north of Pretoria on Friday.

The North West has already pronounced its supports for MP Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma as party presidential candidate. However, there seem to be divisions in the province, with some branches announcing that they support Deputy President Cyril Ramaphosa to ascend to the top seat.

As ANC in the province goes to its PGC, there are some members in Bojanala, comprising of Rustenburg and Brits, who have taken the party to court, contesting legitimacy of about 40 branches. They say if the court rules in their favour, the outcomes of the September regional conference must be set aside, as illegitimate delegates will be attending the national elective congress in Gauteng.

It remains to be seen, whether the ANC in North West will reiterate its support for Dr Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma, and whether branches that have been pulling away from the PEC’s stance, will now rescind their decisions or not.
