Free State Police, Roads and Transport MEC, Sam Mashinini has been elected as the new African National Congress (ANC) chairperson at the 8th provincial elective conference in Bloemfontein.

His deputy is former secretary and coordinator of the Provincial Task Team (PTT) William Bulwane.

The secretary is former PTT convenor Paseka Nompondo.

The speaker of the legislature Mamiki Qabathe is now the deputy secretary whilst Sisi Ntombela, who’s been Premier for two months, is the new treasurer.

ANC National Executive Committee member Nomvula Mokonyane has lashed out at ANC members who criticise party processes when they lose positions.

She was addressing over 500 delegates at the ANC Free State elective conference in Bloemfontein.

Mokonyane says the ANC leadership must be concerned about disgruntled party members.

“We must remain concerned about those who chose to always stand outside the ANC and call themselves the ANC because you don’t abandoned the ANC. You stay, you work and influence others and one day your views will be understood,” adds Mokonyane.
