The African National Congress (ANC) Secretary General Ace Magashule says they expect President Jacob Zuma to step down as requested by the NEC.

The governing party has resolved to recall Zuma after numerous attempts to convince him to step down.

Magashule says in the meantime, the collective view of the NEC is for Cyril Ramaphosa to take over.

“In terms of our Constitution, the President of the ANC must become the candidate for the presidency of the country. The collective of the NEC believes that indeed president Cyril Ramaphosa must take over the presidency in terms of our constitution. You can’t then have another president who is not the president of the ANC,” says Magashule.
