The African National Congress (ANC) in the Eastern Cape has welcomed a number of new members it claims have defected from various political parties.
The party has been campaigning at Zingquthu area near Komani.
The party’s provincial Chairperson Oscar Mabuyane says, “All in all, they are about 500. We’re welcoming back members who are coming from the DA. Some of those members are here; some of them didn’t make it here. But we’ve got their membership applications. We’re quite happy, and we’re welcoming them. We want to unite our people for us to be able to ensure their prosperity. We want to ensure that this country actually firmly believes in democracy.”
