The African National Congress is dominating the conversation on social media. According to media consultancy firm Acumen Media’s 30 Day Case Study, in February #PresidentRamaphosa came up as the top net sentiment.

Net sentiment refers to the brand’s positive and neutral conversations minus the negative conversations, divided by total conversations for the brand.

The report comes as political parties are on the ground campaigning ahead of the 8 May elections. Former President Jacob Zuma is also featuring on the list with #Zuma at 63.14% net sentiment.

People have been speaking about the Zuma’s regime and his activity on social media. There are also conversations around the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) leader Julius Malema with a net sentiment of 51.24%.

Congress of the People (COPE) has the most negative net sentiment. This is after the party’s leader Mosiuoa Lekota referred to Ramaphosa as a sell-out during the State of the Nation Address debate. The #GoodParty has the largest positive sentiment.
