The African National Congress (ANC) in Nelson Mandela Bay celebrated their victory until late Thursday night in front of the ANC headquarters in Port Elizabeth.

They won the province with almost 70%, followed by the Democratic Alliance (DA) and then the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF).

The ANC says this victory is proof that people have trust in them. One of those celebrating, minister of Human Settlements, Nomaindia Mfeketo, says these results indicates that the ANC in the metro and the Eastern Cape is on a winning path.

“I am very happy that we got over 60% in this province and I am sure we will continue because in this province is still the coalition that is governing the local government, and whatever work we are doing is a foundation to work and preparing for the local government.”
