Amajita’s preparations for the FIFA U20 World Cup in Poland this month are progressing smoothly in Europe.

This past weekend they beat Qatar 1-0 in an international friendly match that took place in Slovakia, with Thabiso Monyane of Orlando Pirates netting the only goal of the game.

The South African national U20 side kick-off their tournament on 25th of this month and are in Group F against Argentina, Portugal and South Korea. Head coach Thabo Senong looks back at this result.

Amajita still have another warm-up match against Ukraine and possibly Ecuador as they build-up to the tournament.

Senong says this camp is designed for them to fine-tune the team ahead of the tournament.

Senong is still working with the 27-man squad but will soon have to announce his final 21-man team for the U20 World Cup.

The final squad will be submitted this coming Sunday as Senong focuses on the importance of collective play.

Senong will be returning home this week to attend to the funeral arrangements of his mother, who passed away last week. – Report by Velile Mnyandu
