The University of Limpopo has filled about 3000 of the 5000 available spaces for first-year students. The University’s Registrar Professor Kwena Masha says they have completed registering applicants who were granted acceptance letters before the university opened.

He says they are currently registering applicants whose names are on the waiting list.

Masha also says that most of the 20 000 applicants who qualify to study at the university will be turned back as space is limited.

“By the end of yesterday (Wednesday) we had already crossed 55% of our overall registration. We were almost 3000 of the expected 5000 registrations processed. But there were lot of people on the waiting list and also waiting outside the registration hall. We are now phoning students who are on the waiting list in the various programmes on ‘first come first served basis’.”
