A 33-year-old man has been arrested after he allegedly used a Facebook profile to lure his victim and raped her in Motherwell in Port Elizabeth in the Eastern Cape.
Police spokesperson Andre Beetge says the incident occurred on Valentine’s Day, after the suspect allegedly lured the victim to Motherwell’s section NU 29 after communicating on the social network.
It’s alleged he raped his victim in nearby bushes, after threatening the 30 year old with a screw driver.
The suspect will appear at the Motherwell Magistrate’s Court on Monday.
Police have appealed to other people who have fallen victim to social media-related rapes to come forward.
