All tourist attractions in SA are permitted to operate: Minister

Tourism Minister Mmamoloko Kubayi-Ngubane has confirmed that all tourist attractions in the country are now permitted to operate under Level two of the lockdown.

This includes all theme parks and entertainment centres. All attraction sites are required to adhere to social distancing and other safety protocols.

The minister was addressing the media on regulations related to tourism and hospitality activities under Level two of the lockdown.

Minister’s virtual briefing:

” This includes but not limited to theme parks, amusement parks, water parks, family entertainment centres, zoos, aquariums, nature and game reserves, national parks and other entertainment and cultural activities. Moving to weddings and function venues, we want to emphasize that the maximum requirement in number in terms of the people who attend must comply with the gatherings numbers of 50 people. No buffets should be allowed,” adds te minister.

Complying with curfew

Minister Kubayi-Ngubane also stressed that bars and restaurants need to comply with the 10pm curfew. She says places of accommodation are now allowed to take guests from around the country and not only people living in their respective provinces.

The minister says night clubs are not allowed to operate under the current regulations.
