All systems go for ITU conference

It is all systems go for the 2018 International Telecommunications Unit (ITU) Telecom World Conference to be held in South Africa from 10 September. This is the first time the event is to be held in Africa.  The annual conference attracts more than 9000 delegates from around the world who look into the impact of ICT as a vehicle for development.

Telecommunications and Postal Services Minister Siyabonga Cwele has been giving details at a media briefing in Pretoria.

“The ITU Telecom World provides us with the opportunity to make meaningful headway into this direction. The conference is the global festival of ideas on new and emerging technology which includes 5G. It is the World Cup of the best ideas in the technology sector and the best ideas, that ideas are those that will impact on the majority of the world.”
