All land must be expropriated without compensation: EFF

Reading Time: < 1 minute

The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) has contradicted Contralesa’s views on the land question – almost a week after the two organisations met.

The party now says all land in South Africa, including that which falls under the Ingonyama Trust in KwaZulu-Natal, must be expropriated without compensation.

Contralesa had earlier made it clear that land under traditional leadership should not be touched.

The EFF deputy secretary-general, Hlengiwe Mkhaliphi, has also lambasted President Cyril Ramaphosa for meeting with amaZulu King Goodwill Zwelithini, and assuring him that the land under Ingonyama Trust would not be expropriated.

“All land in South Africa must be expropriated without compensation. However, we need to sit down and agree on the modalities – such as what is going to be the role of traditional leaders when it comes to distribution of land. All land must be expropriated. We are not going to compromise on that one.”
