Ajax ready to host Nedbank Cup game on Thursday

Reading Time: < 1 minute

Glad Africa Championship leaders Ajax Cape Town switch focus to Nedbank Cup action on Thursday when they host fellow second-tier outfit TS Sporting at the Athlone Stadium.

Having just parted ways with their coach Andries Ulderink, Assistant Dylan Deane says they are trying to keep the team focused on the job at hand.

TS Sporting surprisingly beat Ajax in Cape Town in the league last month and Deane says they want to set the record straight.

Deane says the squad has been professional around Ulderink’s surprise departure, and he commends their professionalism.

Friday sees an all Absa Premiership clash as Stellenbosch FC hosts Maritzburg United at Athlone. Stellenbosch FC coach Steve Barker is looking forward to the game.

Barker says this could be an opportunity to rotate the squad a bit and give a few fringe and new players a chance, but he also has to be circumspect.

Having just brought in Asavela Mbekile and Zambian international Nathan Sinkala, he is also happy with the quality of players the club is signing. – Report by Rob Delport
