AG withholds City of Cape Town report

The Auditor General has withheld his report into the City of Cape Town’s management pending several other ongoing investigations.

Preliminary findings by the attorney firm Bowman Gilfillan have lifted the lid on alleged maladministration and corruption in the city of Cape Town, implicating Mayor Patricia De Lille and many other senior officials.

The report has not yet been made public but the SABC has it on good authority that the preliminary findings found alleged maladministration running into millions.

The Democratic Alliance’s (DA) Federal Executive Chairperson James Selfe says, “They do make some adverse findings into the City Manager, they do make adverse findings into the commissioner of transport development authority and they do make adverse findings against her, the mayor of Cape Town and I have no doubt that these require more investigation. The important thing is that the city council of Cape Town accepted that report and the mayor was part of that decision to accept the report.
