Abraham Masango suspended by Eskom

Power utility, Eskom has served another senior executive with a suspension letter for allegedly receiving kickbacks.

Abraham Masango now has 24 hours in which to motivate why he must not be suspended for an incident which happened while he was still the group executive for capital at Eskom.

The allegations against him allegedly relate to the Kusile Power Station.

Masango is a key witness in the disciplinary hearing of former Eskom acting Chief Executive, Matshela Koko.

The power utility’s Spokesperson Khulu Phasiwe says there have been some reports about Masango and other officials at the power utility who allegedly accepted bribes.

Phasiwe says the suspension letter was served following a tip-off.

“There was a letter that was anonymously sent to the management, put through a door for him to look at it. The letter was alleging that Masango and the two other people that were mentioned which is Hlakudi and Sithole have received some bribes from the company one of the subcontractors and based on the seriousness of this allegation it has to be reported to the police, but internally we have started our own investigations.”
