A book exposing a world of cops, bribery and drugs dealers

Reading Time: < 1 minute

Westbury residents say the so-called Coloured community has been forgotten by society and law enforcement officials who have done nothing about crime and violence for years.

In 2014, 3-year-old Luke Tibbets was killed in a drive-by shooting in Westbury – just one of many incidents.

Trying to understand the flare-up of violence in the west part of Johannesburg, and perhaps its roots in the past, journalist Paul McNally sought to undercover the extent to which police were part of the problem, uncovering fake arrests as well as police brutality involving torture and kidnapping.

He is the author of The Street: Exposing a World of Cops, Bribes and Drug Dealers.
