Roads to be closed for Sanlam Cape Town Marathon

Reading Time: < 1 minute

Several roads will be closed across the Mother City on Sunday due to the annual Sanlam Cape Town Marathon.

The Green Point Common has been turned into the nerve centre of the popular event. Dozens of marques, make-shift pavilions and stalls for runners, spectators and the media have been set up.

Mayoral Committee Member for Safety, JP Smith says certain roads within the Atlantic Seaboard, CBD and Southern suburbs will be affected.

“The City of Cape Town will be hosting Africa, the only gold standing marathon, the Sanlam Cape Town Marathon. As a result, there will be stop-start and full road closures affecting numerous roads in the Southern Suburbs, Cape Town CBD and the Atlantic Sea board starting from this morning and carrying through until tomorrow (Sunday) afternoon.”
