SABC COO, Chris Maroleng, has denied claims by Human Settlements Minister, Lindiwe Sisulu, that SABC News anchor, Peter Ndoro, has been fired.
During the State of the Nation debate on Monday, Sisulu commented on an incident where Ndoro mistakenly said that President Cyril Ramaphosa had died. Ndoro was speaking about the late Zimbabwean opposition leader, Morgan Tsvangirai, but made an error and said Ramaphosa’s name instead.
During the debate, Sisulu said Ndoro had lost his job as a result of his error.
Maroleng has denied this.
“SABC TV News would like to reiterate that Peter Ndoro has not been fired. He has been allowed some time to rest at his own request. We look forward to seeing him on our screens soon,” says Maroleng.
