Free State ANC welcomes PEC decision

Reading Time: < 1 minute

Disgruntled Free State ANC members have welcomed the decision taken by the National Executive Committee to disband the Free State Provincial Executive Committee.

Spokesperson for the group, Mahlomola Ralebese, says the NEC should now appoint a new interim structure that will take care of the party’s activities.

On the eve of the National Conference held at NASREC, south of Johannesburg last month, the High Court in Bloemfontein barred 14 branches and the PEC from participating due to irregularities. The court ruled that the decisions taken at the Provincial Conference held in Parys are null and void.

Ralebese says going forward there will be renewing, building and uniting the party.

“Obviously, it would please us that the interim structure which will be set up by the national executive committee must be all inclusive. It must not only be those who supported this or that other candidate towards the 54th national conference of the ANC. It must include all those who are members of the ANC in the free-state no matter which candidate they may have. In a nutshell, we would prefer an all-inclusive provincial task team or interim leadership to take over the affairs of the ANC.”
