Twenty nine people who were arrested for public violence at Reagile township at Koster in the North West last month are on Thursday morning expected in the local court.

They were granted bail of R1 000 each in their last court appearance.

They are facing charges of public violence, malicious damage to property and arson.

Kgetleng rivier local Municipality mayor Kim Medupe’s residential house and another building she owned were torched at Reagile and her guesthouse and six cars were also torched in Koster.

A councillor’s house was also torched in Reagile.

Protesters barricaded the entrance and exit roads to Koster with burning tyres and other objects.

There was again a resurgence of protests where tuckshops were looted, some trucks were pelted with stones and others set alight in Derby.
