Filling venues for Confederations Cup a challenge 21 November 2008, 6:48:00

South Africa's greatest challenge for the 2009 FIFA Confederations Cup is filling the four venues. The 2010 Local Organising Committee will start with a campaign to ensure that South African fans play their role in making next year's tournament a success.

South African football fans have often been criticised for poor attendance at international matches. Hosts South Africa, Italy, Spain, Iraq, the USA, Brazil, New Zealand and Egypt are the eight teams that will take part in the tournament.

Due to the instability of the rand, dollar exchange rate and the fact that not many foreigners are expected for the Confederations Cup, ticket prices have been fixed to accommodate local fans. The cheapest tickets will cost R70, while a ticket for the final will cost only R210.

The draw for next year's tournament takes place tomorrow afternoon.
