Madiba continues to weave his magic after he and his wife Graca Machel was given the nod from more than seven million children across the globe for the role they have played in fighting for children's rights. They received the most votes of the 13 candidates nominated worldwide.
Machel says every single adult whether in public life or private life has the responsibility to meet the rights of children. Machel was honoured for her work in fighting for girls rights, especially in Mozambique. While Mandela was recognised for his commitment in defending children's rights. The top prize of over R500 000 will be no doubt a welcome boost in their efforts to put smiles on the faces of little ones.
Aids Activist Nkosi Johnson was the second runner up. The prize ceremony takes place in Sweden in April.
