Agliotti back to witness box November 03 2009 , 7:23:00

Convicted drug smuggler, Glen Agliotti, returns to the witness box in the South Gauteng High Court this morning for the latest round of questions in the Jackie Selebi corruption trial.

Yesterday, the defence wrapped up its cross-examination paving the way for the prosecution to re-examine Agliotti on aspects raised from defence questions.

These include the disputed NIA video interviews, Selebi's alleged dealings with tax-evader, Billy Rautenbach and the alleged disclosure of top-secret reports by Selebi to Agliotti.

Also expected to be raised today is the defence's request for an application to put on record various complaints against the prosecution. "We have prepared a brief application for a special entry into the record," Jaap Cilliers said yesterday.

Selebi is facing a charge of corruption and another of defeating the ends of justice in connection with at least R1.2 million he allegedly received from Agliotti and others in return for favours. - Additional reporting by Sapa
