Zuma urges Youth League to emulate former leaders like Oliver Tambo October 31 2009 , 6:29:00

ANC President Jacob Zuma has called on South Africa’s youth to emulate former ANC Youth leaders like Oliver Tambo and former president Nelson Mandela . He was speaking at the ANC Youth League’s 65th birthday celebrations in Mthatha in the Eastern Cape.

Afters 65 years since its formation  the League continues to be a significant movement in the country's political landscape. Zuma called on the youth to tap into its rich legacy, urging them to dedicate themselves to dealing with the problems affecting young people. Zuma also warned them against being motivated by self- interest.

Youth League president, Julius Malema called upon President Jacob Zuma to defend black professionals  - saying young black leaders in the economic sector face ongoing humiliation. Malema singled out certain parastatals for  this. Malema wants the National Youth Development Agency to establish a branch in the area in order to address problems facing young people.
