The South African cricket team has edged closer to victory on the fourth morning of the first cricket test against India in Nagpur today. The Proteas claimed a further two wickets in the morning session to leave India on 162/4 at lunch in their follow-on innings, still requiring a further 163 runs to make South Africa bat again.
However, Indian master Sachin Tendulkar is still at the crease, unbeaten on 77. With him is captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni on 9. Taking the two wickets today were left-arm spinner Paul Harris who dismissed Murali Vijay for 32 after India resumed play on 66-2 after being forced to follow-on.
Left-arm medium-pacer Wayne Parnell then dismissed Subramaniam Badrinath caught behind by Mark Boucher for six. The debutant batsman had scored a 50 in the first innings. A series win for the Proteas will mean the visitors will reclaim the number one ranking in test cricket. The second and final test starts in Kolkata at the weekend.
