‘Nelson Mandela exhibition is an expression of love for Madiba’ October 31 2009 , 7:03:00

Nelson Mandela Museum Council chairperson and ANC veteran, Professor Kadar Asmal, says the exhibition at the Nelson Mandela Museum is an expression of love for Madiba. He was speaking at the launch of the exhibition in Mthatha in the Eastern Cape.

Asmal says the exhibition traces back the history of Mandela’s life as a comrade, leader, prisoner, negotiator and statesman. He described Mandela as an engaging man who was not afraid of debate or criticism.

Asmal said: “It is a statement and expression of our love for Mr Mandela because it shows all the different stages of his life, childhood, a worker, resistance fighter, politician, and now citizen of the world”.

“It is an extraordinary lesson for our people  - particularly young people -  because we are not looking only at stages of his life , we are also looking at stages of our own life, our own wakening, our own desire for freedom;” Asmal added.
