Stimela's lead vocalist Nana Coyote dies July 06 2010 , 7:54:00

Stimela lead vocalist Nana 'Coyote' Motijoane has passed away at the Helen Joseph Hospital, in Johannesburg, yesterday. Coyote is affectionately known for his vocal abilities to comfortably sing in a deep growling voice. Coyote (54) is best known for a classic song he did with Steve Kekana 'Take your love'.

Nana Coyote was born Tsietsi Daniel Motijoane in Lesotho in 1955, and grew up Sharpeville, south of Johannesburg. His career as a professional musician began when Coyote joined The Black Five in Sharpeville. Nana was active with The Black Five for the next 10 years. In 1980, Coyote returned to Lesotho as an exile and joined a group called 'Uhuru' later renamed 'Sankomota'. He later joined the group Stimela.

The wild dog was a very good singer, I remember the "unfinished story" tour at Kings Park in the late 80. He had also a good show in Khomasdal, Namibia with the late Paul Ndlovu and his band. May his soul rest in peace

I WAS SO SHOCKED TO LEARN THE PASSING ON OF OUR BROTHER NANA COYOTE MATIJOANE, LET ME TAKE THIS OPPORTUNITY TO CONVEY THIS MESSAGE WITH THE FOLLOWING POEM : MISS ME, BUT LET ME GO- WHEN I COME TO THE END OF THE ROAD, AND THE SUN HAS SET FOR ME. I WANT TO RITES IN GLOOM-FILLED ROOM. WHY CRY FOR A SOUL SET FREE? MISS ME LITLLE - BUT NOT TOO LONG, AND NOT WITH YOUR HEAD BOWED LOW. REMEMBER THE LOVE THAT WAS ONCE SHARED. MISS ME, BUT LET ME GO. FOR THIS JOURNEY WE ALL MUST TAKE, AND EACH MUST GO ALONE. IT'S ALL PART OF THE MASTER'S PLAN, A STEP ON THE ROAD TO HOME. WHEN YOU ARE LONELY AND SICK OF HEART, GO TO THE FRIENDS WE KNOW. BEAR YOUR SORROW IN GOOD DEEDS. MISS ME, BUT LET ME GO. REST IN PEACE.
