The darlings of KwaZulu-Natal football received a hero's welcome today as they flaunted their coveted MTN8 trophy through the streets of Durban. Arrows, who are the winners of the second installment of the MTN8 competition, arrived back home after a string of away games.
The victory parade was part of a friendly reminder to those who might have forgotten Arrows' 6-0 roasting of Ajax Cape Town last month. They went through the city's busy airport, much to the delight of their fans.
Players lapped up the praise as they hoisted their first major trophy which came with a whopping R8 million prize. But the coach remains mum on the money split, saying it is better not to divulge such information to protect the players.
The Lamontville outfit then took to the streets to thank loyal supporters and to make some new ones. A large convoy followed closely through the team’s strongholds. Government leaders also paid homage to a side that seems to have resuscitated soccer in the province of late.
