Usain Bolt takes year off to prepare for future races November 16 2009 , 6:16:00

World and Olympics triple gold medallist Usain Bolt has decided to take a year long break. This is not due to fatigue but to fine tune his running technique for future events.

The Jamaican appeared at a World Sports Conference where he told the audience that he had not set out a calendar of events for next year. Bolt was given four awards at the Conference in recognition for his superb performance at the Berlin World Championships. He beat his own times to set world records of 9.58 seconds in the 100 metres and 19.19 seconds in the 200 metres.

The first man to hold the 100 and 200 meters world and Olympic titles at the same time has also been honoured as Jamaica's newest Ambassador-at-large, an honour that was bestowed upon him by Jamaica's Prime Minister Bruce Golding. - Reuters
