SA-England ODI washed out at Wanderers November 20 2009 , 6:30:00

Today's one-day international between South Africa and England at the Wanderers has been washed-out. After continued heavy rain, Umpires decided to abandon the much-anticipated first match in the five match series.

The umpires inspected the pitch at 3pm, and again at 5pm, when a decision on whether it will be possible to play a shortened version of the scheduled 50-over match. The covers were on and ground staff was working to try to keep the area around the pitch as dry as possible.

However, the persistent rain swayed the umpire's decision to call off the much anticipated game. The second one-day international will be played at Supersport Park on Sunday.
