Ashleigh Louw has been remembered as a brave and courageous baby who touched many people's lives. She was born in January with heart defects and died last Friday. Her memorial service was held in Eldorado Park last night.
Speakers hailed her as a baby who united communities with her rare condition. Professor Antoinette Cilliers, a pediatric surgeon at the Chris Hani Baragwanath Hospital says she learnt a lot from Ashleigh's condition.
Cilliers says as a medical person they were very astounded by her presentation, very unusual problems that she had and it is once in a lifetime that a baby like this comes along and provides a huge challenge.
She says Ashleigh tried her best to keep up with them but eventually she had to leave. Cilliers says they learnt an enormous amount from her and don't think any of them will ever forget her.
