Two changes for Springbok Sevens ahead of tournaments March 10 2010 , 5:44:00

Springbok Sevens coach, Paul Treu, has made two changes to the Springbok Sevens team who will feature in the next two tournaments of the IRB Sevens World Series. The fifth and sixth legs on the Series begin in Australia next Friday and then moves to Hong Kong a week later.

The Springboks will be looking to defend their Adelaide title in Australia with the aim of getting back into the chase for the overall title of Series Champions. Treu and his men are in seventh place on the overall standings in this season's championships race, more than 48 points behind log leaders New Zealand.

The Bulls' Sampie Mastriet and Western Provinces Chris Dry have been drafted into the squad in place of Marius Schoeman and Cheetahs rookie Phillip van der Walt. While the changes were necessary, Treu kept the nucleus of the team untouched.

Treu says they still have a good mix in the team, with four experienced players the core of the backline players which played in the last tournament. The coach says although they are young he believes they have the potential and the talent to do well. The team leaves for Australia on Saturday.
