Hurricane Earl rakes US east coast with wind, rain

The east coast of the US is bracing itself for a category four hurricane that is packing winds of 230km/h. The hurricane named Earl is expected to remain offshore but due to its size, the impact is expected to be felt well into the mainland of the US.
