The Johannesburg city council has promised Orange Farm residents that it will provide them with houses, water tanks and electricity. Community leaders, Joburg city and Joburg water officials met yesterday following a protest march by Orange Farm residents this week.
Residents blockaded the N12 demanding basic services. Thulani Nkosi, the deputy director for housing, says infrastructure cannot be built on current land until it is properly demarcated into plots. He says residents will be relocated to a nearby site.
