Media reports suggests that Motlanthe would be placed in parliament to shadow President Thabo Mbeki
|
May 06, 2008, 09:30
ANC Deputy-President Kgalema Motlanthe is to be deployed to Parliament as soon as possible. This has been revealed at a news conference in Johannesburg following yesterday's meeting of the ANC working committee.
Two months ago, the ANC National Executive Committee said it wanted Motlanthe to occupy a position in President Thabo Mbeki's executive.
The aim of his deployment is to ensure constant communication between the ANC and government, as well as a smooth transition of power before next year's general election.
It is unclear when Motlanthe will be deployed and in what position.
