Motsoko Pheko remains member of PAC

The Pan Africanist Congress of Azania

The PAC has been criticized for not advancing black unity

September 16, 2007, 11:45

The National People's Party (NPP) has confirmed that the PAC's only public representative, Motsoko Pheko, has not defected to the NPP. The newly-formed party says it had hoped that Pheko would consider switching his political home to it.

The NPP says it had approached Pheko to persuade him to join the party. NPP president Badih Chabaan was the last to cross the floor shortly before midnight last night.

Speculation that Pheko was going to bring the PAC's only public representation in Parliament to an end has been cleared. NPP spokesperson Ruan-DuWal Uys says the NPP's door remains open for Pheko.
